2015 Clare vintage was described by some as text book for growing conditions. A short ripening period with early harvest across the region, which imparted good natural acidity and bright fruit flavours for great balance. Strong winter rains prepared the vines for a hot summer and rain a month before harvest. With just under 2 tonnes picked of the regions total 88 tonnes of the variety that year. Hand from our old bush vines, the Grenache was left to macerate for several days, before being crushed and left on skins to draw out the rich colour. Placed in older French barrels to ferment, and bottled with minimal filtration.
Deep rich raspberry colour
Blackcurrants and mulberries with a hint of cinnamon spice.
Spicy blackberries define the palate, with allspice andchocolate adding to the rich cassis and blueberry lift. Rich and complex, with a fine tannin structure and elegant oak.
Fragrant with a floral lift, this deep and serious red berry Grenache pairs well with pork, duck and cured meats. Antipasti, oily pasta or chargrilled meats are ideal.
