Antiquarian, Limited Barossa Shiraz
Limited Barossa Shiraz
An Antiquarian is a collector of rare or ancient books and curios, a name befitting this rare and exclusive wine. Antiquarian wines, the pinnacle of quality, are hand crafted from only the very best parcels.
The 2014 Antiquarian Shiraz was selected from the finest Barossa grapes and matured in French oak barriquesfor 24 months. The wine is glorious upon release and will develop even greater complexity with cellaring for up to 10 years.
The 2014 Barossa vintage demonstrated the regions ability to thrive under challenge. Good winter and early spring rains filled the soils with 20-36% above average levels. A windy spring, and then in November unseasonal frost events resulted in lower yields. Late spring and summer were dry and warm. Harvest in the Eden Valley was underway by the end of February. The outcome culminated into very good quality, with generally lower than average crops. Reds are rich, and dense that suggests they will be age worthy. The grapes were grown at altitudes between 400 and 600 metres.
Closure Diam driven closure is selected for Antiquarian to deliver a consistent result of the highest quality.

*Deep, dense red/purple colour, with a rich chocolate, vanilla, toasty bouquet. Elements of kola. The wine is very intense and focused, concentrated and rich, dense and powerful. Masses of tannins provide density, flesh and backbone. The persistence is amazing and the attack is formidable. A quite outstanding shiraz.
