The 2017 Barossa vintage experienced wetter than average pre harvest winter and spring, pushing back timing by up to a month. Shiraz picking began in mid to late February and with good soil moisture and cooler temperatures, the vines looked healthy. The fruit was allowed to ripen more slowly and this gradual development of fruit sugars created a sophisticated style that copes with higher alcohol levels.
Colour Intense, saturated purple colour.
Nose The bouquet is liquorice, black pepper and ripe blood plums with hints of toasty oak.
Palate The medium to full bodied is bright and lithe with mulberry and cherry, black pepper, supporting toasting oak and a focusing thread of acidity.
Pairings Serve with slow roasted game, char grilled thick cuts of beef or tender beef cheeks and matured, richly flavoured cheeses.
