Oaked Chardonnay

Oaked Chardonnay
Chardonnay vines planted on our estate in the early 2000s, are carefully tended to produce a zesty wine.
Grown on ancient sheet limestone with red desert sand overlay.
The low yielding fruit was gently bag pressed, cold settled and racked into ferment.
A small portion was influenced by seasoned French oak.
The majority was tank fermented to retain varietal freshness.
The 2019 vintage endured some extended heat and dryness which resulted in lower than average yields, concentrated flavour and minimal disease risk. Harvested in three different stages, destemmed and must chilled into bag presses to gently extract the fresh fruity flavours.
Clarified and fermented under controlled temperatures between 12 to 18 c. Extended less contact was conducted to achieve soft rich mouthfeel and oak was in both American and French origins.
Pale straw with golden hue. Vibrant stone fruits of nectarine and peach with zesty tropical fruits and creamy vanilla bean aromas.
The palate is slippery and long lasting, well rounded and full-bodied. Tangy peach and lime have a vanilla cream finish.
